Running outside

Okay I wanted to blog about this before the tiredness and soreness settled in and I forgot how awesome this morning was. I woke up at four, packed up the rest of my stuff, and then walked to the end of our cul-de-sac to meet Walter. He was there at 4:30 sharp and we drove to the gym in Zona 10 in the pitch dark. I was so surprised to see that we were meeting a group of ten other runners that were also running the 21K this weekend and are running the Chicago Marathon next month. We ran in a pack, some runners were doing 16 miles and we were doing 8. It was totally dark when we got started and everyone was running really fast. I was really scared I was going to die since I really haven’t been running much down here but I think they all just like to do a quick warm up before the start pacing themselves for the rest of the run. We went through some cool neighborhoods, saw some neat stores, and overall had a great run. Some of the people who ran only spoke Spanish but others spoke to me in English so they could get to know me better. I didn’t mind for the first day but I told them that as soon as we become acquainted, they have to speak Spanish only on the runs so I can practice :)

After the run, I was pretty much high off of the endorphins from the run and had such an incredible day teaching.  Even though I had been awake since 4am, I didn’t get tired throughout the day and I felt so alive and energized. If I can figure out a way to get myself to the meeting spot of the runs I am going to try to go everyday that they run.
